The plenary session showcased technology ranging from augmented reality to 3D to IoT, and of course, deep learning. The program also allows you to retrieve the coordinates of any point on Earth by hovering your mouse over the location you wish to know. Pretrained deep learning models update (February 2021) Today was a fun and exciting day at the Esri Federal GIS Conference 2021 highlighted by great user presentations, inspiring talks, and a powerful technology showcase.
Other features include the ability to copy the current view onto the clipboard, where it can by displayed by pasting it on an image program such as Microsoft Paint, thematic maps, charts, and clocks that all allow you to customize the area, an "Earth shadow" feature which creates a shadow on the Earth if you are on 3D, and a 2D feature that allows you to see the Earth from a map perspective. A zoom feature allows you to zoom into countries, and lists major cities, a print option allows you to print the current display of a page, and a find button allows you to find any city, country, river, lake, or continent within seconds. These all perform basic tasks helping the viewer in understanding the world. There are many tools you can use on the program. The software also includes distance measuring and in-depth information on every country, including independence days, government types, and such. These include, but are not limited to, world maps on a 3D globe, thousands of tables and charts, national flags, and a world clock. Kids can press the speaker icon to have the paragraph read to them and an index can be used to find items of interest quickly.As an atlas software, the 3D World Atlas has many features. These icons, animated illustrations of the sights and sounds various countries have to offer, link to a short paragraph of information with photographs. A beautifully illustrated globe greets you as you launch the app and colorful and animated icons pop up around the world begging to be touched. Their latest offering, the Barefoot World Atlas, based on the book of the same name, written by Nick Crane and illustrated by David Dean, brings the freedom of exploration to your kid's fingertips. But it's one that Touch Press have increasingly been filling with their iPad apps. With the internet supplanting the multi-media encyclopedia market, I find myself missing an easy way to provide my kids that same type of experience. I would spend hours looking at random articles, though often just to find articles that had audio and video for the experience. It had Compton's Multimedia Encyclopedia and with its full color pictures and audio and video clips, it brought subjects like the moon landing, an African safari or the varied peoples of the world come to life. I remember when I got my first multi-media-capable computer.
